PowerRide 30K 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch

As with the Rebellion XD Adjustable Cushion Hitch, this project was brought to Design Department, Inc. (DDI) by Curt Manufacturing to update and upgrade their existing product.

The Curt Manufacturing PowerRide 30K 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch is a commercial and recreational hitch. We found form in function ensuring the product retained its rugged roots while transforming it into a sleeker, more usable package.

We started with a redesigned head assembly and integrated a lube plate for better functionality and pivoting, allowing the trailer to move more naturally. Addition of grips to the head and an enhanced J hook release revamped and improved ergonomics. That’s not enough to call it better though. Adding another 5,000 lbs of load capacity over their previous design? That’s starting to sound more like it.

Design Department doesn’t always create a new product from scratch. Sometimes a client is looking for a new, fresh design for an existing product. We use that core of an established, successful product to make its evolution as groundbreaking as it is on brand.
